CATS Test Result
CATS as de-facto standard
AudioDev has since 1987 successfully established the brand name CATS within the optical media industry. One of our most important goals has always been to achieve traceable and repetitive measurements. To be able to trace and correlate the measurements to the corresponding measurements done by the reference labs across the globe is of essence when it comes to trusting the results. With the largest installed base of analyzers worldwide, the task of minimizing the deviation between all the CATS analyzers is as important as the traceability; it shouldn’t matter where the test is performed, the result should be as accurate as it can be. The CATS analyzers are used not only by media manufacturers, but also drive manufacturers, manufacturers of optical media production lines, industry material suppliers and various institutes and labs. Numerous companies around the globe trust and rely on AudioDev’s equipment on a daily basis. The worldwide acceptance provides one of the reasons why CATS analyzers haveachieved the status of de-facto standard within the industry for all viable optical media formats.

The CATS protocol
In many ways, the CATS protocol represents the essence of AudioDev’s work and dedication when it comes to precision measurements of optical media. With the CATS protocol in your hand, it proves your product in a unique way, achievable by no other.

CATS test frequency
One important factor when it comes to maintaining a worldwide acceptance is for media manufacturers to keep a high disc test frequency. There are several reasons for testing; making sure that the discs conform to the given industry specifications is a major reason. It is not enough to verify just a single sample from a production batch, but rather as many samples as possible. A high test frequency will give all participating parties from content owners to media manufacturers and distributors, added confidence in the end product. The actual test frequency varies from different media manufacturers, but typically a complete CATS analysis of every 2000 discs is performed in any given production batch.
